Hi, how’s it going? This blog is about setting and achieving goals. Not just ordinary goals, but extraordinary goals, Check out my current goal list here, or browse through some of the articles below.
Fridays are my favorite day of the week. I love it because from around lunchtime onwards it feels like the weekend. People are more relaxed at work and most are looking forward to the next couple of days. Its different when you’re at home, but I still like Fridays. I said yesterday was the hardest workout yet. Well, today was. By far. If yesterday was tough, today was near impossible. Getting started wasn’t as hard – but continuing was so difficult. The weights felt extra heavy. My arms were extra bruised. My legs felt like giving up. I just had no stamina!
It wasn’t that I was sore. The soreness has pretty much gone away. So if you feel sore – push through it! It only makes it better. So often I’ve seen people (applicable to me too) decide they need to start working out, or running – or something physical again – and they push it too hard too fast. As a result, the next day is agony and you’re put off exercising for weeks. I know – I’ve been there. Many times! I quite like this discovery I’ve literally stumbled upon. Provided you aren’t injured and its just muscle ache, don’t give up. Work through the ache and by the end of the week you will feel better than if you didn’t. Just go for it – beat the ache, the pain – and beat those fat cells outta here! If it helps, talk to them and tell them you’re going to smash them into next century. You might feel silly but if it helps you to keep working out – then go for it!
So… diet.
Yup, it was a smoothie for breakfast again. After breakfast I actually went back to sleep for an hour and a half. It didn’t make me feel better – but it was quite nice. As I said before, the workout was so incredibly tough. But I got through it thanks to motivation from you. I’m liking drinking my protein shake after workouts. The whey protein makes it taste a lil funny but it has the flavor of success in a way – success and toned muscles!
I snacked on nuts and ate 2 mandarins, a Nashi pear and not much else today. I realised I don’t drink enough though. Its not good – I think I would see better results if I drink more water. Its important to drink water as opposed to anything else because it has a cleansing effect. Sometimes its nice to add fresh squeezed lemon juice or some frozen berries for a bit of flavor. Whatever you do, don’t drink any soda!
Another reason I like Fridays is because we go to my parents for dinner. Us and about 10 others. Usually is really good fare – all home cooked, authentic, high quality nutrient rich food. This week was an unprecedented ‘bring-your-contribution takeaway night’. Elliot was happy because there was no end of Domino’s pizza, butter chicken and KFC coleslaw. That was pretty much the extent of the vegetables, unless you count the msg-laden Chinese stirfry!
So I’m sorry to say, the food I consumed was rather embarrassing – but oh so good! Except when you realise the complete lack of goodness within this ‘stuff’ – you don’t seem to enjoy it quite as much. What do you do when that’s all there is? I say enjoy it for the moment and pay the price later. Life is intended to be enjoyed after all…
Dessert was icecream – but again I resisted and just had an organic Graham cracker made without sugar (!) and some grapes, almonds and pecans.
Ok, thats me for the week – I’ll post what I eat this weekend as well.
Till then!
