Refined sugar is bad. Just look at what it has done to the health of any people group after it is introduced as a food. Natural sugars are fine in moderation (e.g. 1 or 2 pieces of fruit a day).

Sugar isn't bad. Sugar is a carbohydrate, which is our main source of energy. Now I'm not saying that a lot of sugar is good for a person, but it is impossible to completely cut out sugar from our diet. Moderation is key. Also, artifical sugars are found to be worse for a person's health then regular sugar.

Stevia is NOT made from Splenda. Stevia is not a name brand either. Stevia is the name of a sweet indigenous plant of S. America. I too do not eat sugar, cane sugar, honey of any sort, or any artificial sweeteners, no fruit or anything that has sugar in it that is above 2 grams per serving natural or not. I have not eaten sugar in so long that one time I tasted (and by taste I mean I stuck the tip of my pinkie finger into my friend's cheesecake dessert and tasted it and it was actually bitter tasting to me. GROSS! MY tastebuds have changed because I no longer eat sugar.

I began realizing how badly I craved sugar everyday but seemed powerless to stop myself. It started to take a very bad health toll on me. So after sometime in prayer asking Jesus to help me kick the habit, I got sick, lost my taste for sugar( my taste buds got messed up), and before I knew it I wasn't eating sugar. Thanks be to Jesus for giving me the will power and using my cold to help kick start my kicking the sugar habit. I will be enjoying getting rid of all the toxins and getting my health back on track. Aloha! From Hawaii.

Hey,

Excellent post. I am trying very hard to give up sugar as well. I used to use 6 heaping teaspoons per day in my coffee. I calculated that every 22 days or so that was equivalent to 1 pound weight gain. Previously no matter how much exercise I got I could not lose any weight.

After losing 9 pounds in 6 months I am again looking at ways to cut sugar usage. I just started the process of changing my breakfast cereal that is loaded with sweets.

I am also going to try to switch from having ice cream for desert to having fruit with milk.

I am starting to feel more mentally alert now that I am cutting down on the stuff as well.

I wish everyone good luck in kicking the sugar habit!

Stevia comes in little pacages ready to consume as if you were using nutrasweet or some other sweetener. One of its brand names is SPLENDA, but there are other names as well
