I keep asking myself if this 3 week blitz was worth it. I reached the end. I made it to the finish and I blogged pretty much every day. Yay.
However… I didn’t achieve anything. Not visibly. I didn’t lose any weight – not even a smidgen – didn’t lose any fat, still feel flabby – ha.
So was it worth it? The penultimate question. The answer is elusive. I don’t know. Maybe. Yes. No.
On Sat I had 5 fried eggs, 3 pieces of bacon, fried tomatos with tomato sauce, grapefruit juice and coffee. Prior to that I had a banana thickshake made with milk, yoghurt, banana and whey protein. SO it was a huge breakfast by my standards! I did have a workout in the morning though – felt good but boy was it hard. Lucky Elliot was there to boost me.
Lunch was a gerkhin and a chicken drumstick and a couple of pickled onions. I didn’t wanna eat much after that breakfast! During the day I had a mandarin and lots of water cos I was still suffering from that cold. So annoying… dinner ended up being takeout – burger, onion rings and a salad from Burger King. Naughty but nice. I haven’t had a bought burger in a long time. When I got home I scoffed the rest of that gluten & sugar free strudel I made on Friday. It was pretty good cold!
Sunday I had 2 mandarins and an olive for breakfast, then 2 coffees mid morning and a subway salad for lunch. The salad was good – got the seafood double meat so got seafood and tuna. The ‘seafood’ isn’t the healthiest but the tuna isn’t too bad. It was pretty yum though – shouldn’t have had quite so much sauce but hey. During the rest of the day I snacked on a mandarin, a feijoa, couple of pieces of cheese and then it was dinner. We had wraps filled with: mustard, ranch dressing, tomato sauce, jalapenos, black olives, lettuce, tomato, parmesan, bell peppers, and beef cooked up in Worcestershire sauce, garlic, fish sauce and Chinese 5-spice. Yum! Very filling.
So I successfully left the real answer to that irritating question of whether these three weeks have been worth it.
I didn’t visibly see any results. However, when I started, I could barely manage 4 reps of the clean and press. Each workout I was doing 12 clean and press. By week 3 I was doing 24 clean and press. That’s double. I got the other exercises up to 12 reps pretty much – so I definitely gained strength. I can actually see a little more definition on my arms. I got up every day and worked out with the exception of the last two days which were beyond my control (kinda!). I refrained from eating sugar. I tried to eat Warrior stuff.
I think the biggest thing I got from this (see I got something!) was that I can actually make a goal and stick with it. In the past I’ve given up at day 3. Or 2. Or 1. But I made it. I did the whole three weeks. Mentally that is a huge step. Physically I may not have made the progress I was wanting. But I persevered. I think there are three main things when it comes to fitness/weight loss/that kinda thing. 1) Diet. 2) Exercise. 3) Perseverance. You cannot have the first two without the third. Without perseverance it just won’t work. Now if I analyse the blitz, I see that I had perseverance. I had exercise. But when I look at some of my days, I realise now that I didn’t have diet. I thought I was following the Warrior Diet… but I’ve just started reading the book again, and realised that I read it a bit too fast. There are parts in there that I skimmed – which were quite necessary!
So – I admit my mistakes to the world. I don’t know if I’m going to be posting my food daily because it was quite a bit of personal sacrifice to do that! I might post once a week and have my weekly diet. I am going to try to improve what I ate and get some sort of change going.
Here’s to the next little while. I’m going to think up some fitness goals and improve on the last three weeks!
