One of my biggest motivators is clothes. I like clothes. I like shopping for clothes, I like sorting through my exsisting clothes. I like browsing for new and exciting clothing. I don’t really like following trends with my clothing - I prefer to wear things for comfort, and for personal taste. You will often find me wearing something that is ‘fashionable’ but my goal is not to be in fashion, my goal is to wear clothing that suits me - my personality and shape and lifestyle.
If I walk past a window and see myself - I always try to analyse if what I’m wearing suits me or not. If not, I just shrug and continue..what can I do when I’m out anyway?! However I do try to keep it in mind and then try to pick clothes that do suit me. Have you ever walked past a window and thought ‘Is that how the world sees me? Is that how I really look?’ I have many times. And its motivating! It makes me want to go home and lift my kettlebells and get rid of that appearance I dislike.
Even MORE motivating is buying new clothes. I just bought some new trackpants. I love trackpants. They make me feel sporty and like I’ve been working out. So I’m going to only wear them if I have had a workout that day. I bought them on Saturday and it made me workout on Monday morning - not only kettlebell routine but a run as well. So I’m feeling on top of the world. Apart from the fact I’m a little under the weather.
I like buying workout gear. I’ve bought a lot over the years! Shorts, leggings, long sleeve tops, t-shirts, trackpants, shoes, socks, gloves, singlets, racer backs, crop tops… you name it! As soon as I bring it home I can’t wait to ‘try it out’. The look and the feel of a new item of clothing is so inspiring it just makes you want to workout and workout well.
So - try it! First of all flick through some magazines of sport gear. Visit some websites. Get a mental picture of what you would look like in some of these items. Then go to your local clothing shop and pick up an item. It needen’t be expensive. I find that buying just one thing is enough. That way you can justify going back and getting more!! Its great to build up a wardrobe. Often workout gear does get a little worn - but its well worn - and then you can get more.
This is a valid excuse to go shopping for all credit-card holders… to get in shape, go buy some snazzy new workout gear that you feel great in. This is an inspirational way to motivate yourself to burn that fat!
