We now know (if we didn’t already), that sugar is evil. If we want to have any hope of lowing our body fat percentage then eliminating sugar from our diets is going to be a big step in the right direction.
1. You’ll have more energy and be more productive
Believe it or not you’ll actually have more energy if you completely avoid sugar. Sugar in it’s refined state is not friendly to our body’s digestive system. The more sugar we eat the more our bodies have to work to deal with it. Any energy that is gained from sugar is short-lived, and it creates such a spike in our insulin levels it’s like trying to quench your thirst by drinking from a fire house on full bore.
2. You’ll feel less sluggish in the afternoon
Do you ever experience that annoying tired feeling in the early afternoon? I know I did, and it was something I’d come to expect/learn to live with. After removing sugar (and grains) from my lunch meal however, I’ve come to realize that it isn’t actually normal. Instead of your body having to work hard to get your blood/sugar levels back to a normal level, your body can coast along and its resources can be used on more beneficial things like the work you are doing. Sound good? It does to me!
3. You’ll be able to appreciate more subtle tastes
The thing with sugar is that it is such a heavy taste it dominates the various tastes we are eating. By removing sugar, things may seem rather bland to begin with, but over time we’ll start to appreciate tastes that we would not even be able to identify when our food was saturated with sugar.
4. You’ll be in control of your diet (and therefore your body)
After a couple of weeks your sugar cravings will start to subside. You’ll no longer yearn for the white cocaine-like powder, so when others feel like a cake or soft drink, you’ll be happy with an apple or orange. You’ll also be able to appreciate cheat meals, without eating harmful amounts of sugar as you’ll be satisfied by smaller helpings. These days sometimes just one piece of chocolate can be enough for me.
5. You’ll waste less money
Cans of Coke, chocolate bars, cakes, cookies, confectionery… all these things will no longer be on your shopping list. You’ll be walking straight past the vending machine at work as you watch other employees bending over to pick up their mid-afternoon chocolate fix. Just dig your hands into your pocket and feel those coins that are still yours to spend/save (I recommend saving).
6. You’ll be able to get rid of any yeast infections you may have
Candida is a yeast infection that almost everybody in the Western world has but probably doesn’t know it. It feeds on sugar and if you’ve ever had antibiotics in the past you’re most probably suffering from Candida to some extent. Cut off the life blood from it and you’ll cut out this problem, or at least keep it at bay (your body can quite healthily deal with a small amount in its system without a problem).
There are other advantages I could go on to list, such as sleeping better, avoiding extra dental fees, having a better skin complexion, but I wanted to list just those that will be applicable to everyone. No matter who you are, if you stop eating sugar for good, you will enjoy the benefits listed above.
Have I gone off sugar completely?
Well, no. I avoid it whenever possible but now and again I do eat it, and I enjoy it too. But most of the time I actually prefer to use healthier sugar substitutes such as honey or maple syrup. Almost all baking recipes out there can be made by substituting sugar with honey.
Take note: You may experience flu-like symptoms if you completely shut off from eating sugar. This happens as your body finally has a chance to get rid of toxins which have stored up in your body. Headaches are quite common as well. Don’t go out and get medicine, just ride it out and in a day or two you’ll feel a lot better.

I love ice cream and I love chocolate. Unfortunately both of these foods when bought commercially will contain refined sugar. It is not just these obvious foods that will include sugar in the ingredients. Almost all breakfast cereals will contain sugar as well as most sauces/mayonnaise. Next time you’re buying your groceries take a look at which
Sugar is bad. In fact sugar as we know it, is not a natural substance. Refined sugar has been robbed of all the vitamins, minerals, proteins, enzymes and other beneficial nutrients that original sugar cane or beet contains. In fact, ironically refined sugar lacks chromium which is a chemical needed for our blood sugar levels to be healthily managed (i.e. severe deficiencies in this chemical will mean our bodies could ignore how much sugar is in our blood).
There are many reasons why sugar is bad, but today I’m listing just 3 reasons why I personally try to avoid sugar as much as possible.
1. Too much sugar makes us fat
Hopefully this isn’t news to you. When we eat sugar we will almost always consume far more than our body has use for. Because our body cannot consume the extra unnecessary sugar it will then be stored as fat. Too much fat in the body will cause obesity which is known to be a leading
factor of diseases.
2. Sugar is highly addictive and after experiencing the sugar high, you’ll then have to deal with either stress or depression or both before returning back to normal.
This is because When we go on a sugar high our bodies release hormones to reduce the sugar level in our blood back to a normal level (our bodies do the same thing when we consume a lot of caffeine). Unfortunately, as these suppressive hormones have side effects in themselves (such as stress
and then lethargy). Once the cycle is complete it leaves us feeling like nothing else but more sugar. Now do you know why you experience sugar cravings so often?
The more we eat sugar the more our bodies will produce the suppressive hormones to balance out the blood sugar level. In time this can lead to too much suppressive hormones in our system so that we have to eat sugar just to feel normal.
3. Too much sugar is a leading cause of diabetes, hyperglycemia, hypoglycemia and heart disease (just to name a few diseases).

Conclusion: Any amount of sugar is too much sugar
I imagine (if you’re anything like me) you’ll never be able to give up sugar completely. As bad as it may be, it sure does taste good! What I would like to think however, is that you’ll at least consider eliminating sugar from your diet at home. There are plenty of substitutes for sugar for those times when you have a sweet tooth, and there are also some substantial benefits from not eating sugar (including fat loss of course).
Are there any readers out there who don’t eat sugar as a rule?

We tend to ignore the news and research related to our favorite soft drinks. More often than not the most harmful things we consume in the western world is not the food, but the liquid. Coke, Pepsi, Fanta, pick your poison, if you are drinking these kind of drinks on a regular basis you can never expect to get rid of that flab you’re carrying.
Stay clear of the sugary drinks
Have you ever wondered why Coke comes with a smile? It’s because it gets you high. They took the cocaine out almost a hundred years ago. You know why? It was redundant.

I know you don’t like me telling you to stop drinking these extremely tasty beverages, but I highly recommend you read this article as it outlines the process your body has to go through when drinking a recommending serving size of Coke (bear in mind that you could put most sugary soft drinks into the same basket as coke).
At the risk of repeating myself I need to remind all readers out there. These drinks are damaging to your health, and are one of the main reasons so many people can’t get that layer of flab to leave them.
Avoid too much caffeine
Of course another problem with Coke is that it contains caffeine which is a stimulant that boosts your adrenaline levels. Because adrenaline is dangerous for long periods of time, your body will automatically produce suppressants to balance out the adrenaline levels and bring it back to normal. The problem is that the more caffeine you consume, the more your body produces these suppressants and it can get to the point that you need caffeine just to feel normal.
A little is not going to kill you
Nor will it ruin your fitness goals. You can afford to consume drinks like this but you have to make it a treat, not part of your diet. Less than once a week is a good ball park figure but it depends on your own body. It is possible that once a month, or even once every 2 months is what you need to be aiming for.
